RE: Hooking up digital converter to Winegard entertainment

Just remember if the VCR is on it will either block or pass. I put my ACCESS brand in the VCR line.. Were watching it earlier this evening, works great Even the wife figured it out. Did the same thing, we never used the VCR anyway now that we have DVD, so replaced the VCR with the converter in that section. Now when we want digital push the VCR button, when want analog push antenna button as before, or satellite select satellite. Richard

XP service pack 3, Grrr!!

Have tried twice to install it and both times 2Yr old computer would not start in normal mode. First time about a month ago Grandson got it uninstalled in safe mode, this time (yesterday) did the same thing, took it to computer repair guy, he got it off, and fixed it so we can get other updates without it. He said forget it for now. The reason we tried it again was because could not get updates without installing it. Anyone else having trouble? Sorry post so long. Richard:):M

RE: DTV converters

Just this last weekend went camping where could reach over the air tv signals and installed a Magnavox converter with pass thru that I bought at sears(with coupon). Have the winegard entertainment distribution box so removed the VCR which we never used and hooked up the in-from-antenna and out-to-tv to the converter, and selected TV antenna in that VCR section. NOW on the main and 2nd TV sections select VCR input and turn on the booster. Worked like a charm, could not believe the difference went from fuzzy to better picture than we get on satellite. Richard PS If you hook converter this way do not need the pass thru feature as you can select TV antenna in the TV section of the distribution box to still watch analog.

RE: That Dtv converter box

Our Weinguard distribution box has the power booster switch on the front of the box, DOES this mean we MUST hook-up the converter on the out-to-TV line and NOT on the antenna-in line? Sounds like we will need a converter for the rear TV also? Experts please confirm. Thanks Richard You either put the converter on the "OUT TO TV" line, or on the OUT TO VCR Line (SUGGESTION) or you use a Satellite type splitter with power pass through on the FROM ANTENNA line with the pass through port going to the Winegard box and feed the converter's output to the AUX in if it's not occupied Another option is to feed the converter to the VCR's AV inputs if they are not occupied. Thanks wa8yxm, just what we need to know. Richard

RE: what brand of "tire shine" is safe and most satisfactory?

Michelin says don't put anything on them. Tires are not supposed to shine anyway. Actually, Michelin recommends their Step Two Tire Shine, that they say is formulated to retard sidewall deterioration. I use it, and it looks good. Blue bottle, yellow top, available on the net. Never use petroleum or alcohol based tire dressings. We also use Michelin Step Two Tire Shine, got ours at at an Auto Parts store, O'Rileys I think. Have used it for three years years, keep tires covered, no cracks in 40,000 mile six year old XRV's. Richard

RE: Toilet bowl won't hold water.

Try soaking with a vinegar solution, ours evidently had a mineral build-up and this cured it where scrubbing would not. Richard

Ditched steel braided inflators!

Had rig into the truck tire place to fix slow leak in outside dual(was a nail)so had thorough inspection on 235/80/22.5 XRV's (Six years old no cracks). Tires still good to go, but got antsy about the inflators so had the solid brass long stems installed on the inside tires only cost us $35 to fix the leak and $58.50 for installing the stems. I can reach them with a straight in-line gage and inflator right thru the holes in the wheel-liners, and the outside tires with the angle part of same tools. As for managing the valve-stem caps I can reach them by either reaching in between the tires or using a 3/8" nut driver(caps are hex-shaped). Feel much safer now, had to remove inflators from previous motorhome because of leaks. Richard PS Have 40,000 miles on these 6 year old tires and have always kept them covered, so will go for another year then take another hard look. R.

RE: Is using a quick release on H2O OK?

Have used the brass ones for years. A couple of them started leaking a while back, soaked them in vinegar and they were good as new. Richard:)

RE: Dreaded broken string-day/night shade-options?

Started having trouble with ours so replaced with mini-blinds. Removed valances to remove blinds and install the new blinds then put the valances back up. Like the mini-blinds better anyway have had both kinds in motorhomes before. Richard

RE: Driving a Motorhome

Ditto what HIDEOUT said about towing, look ahead in tight places(service stations etc)so you won't have to unhook to get going again, don't ask me how I know!:o Have towed four down for about 75,000 miles in ten years and have only had to unhook twice. Richard

RE: Activities, Attractions, Dining, Rio Grand Valley TX 07-08

We like Aribas in Nuevo Progesso, they have live enterainment starting at noon(we've never been at night), happy hour all day long. We eat and dance there at least once a week and have for 5 years or more, the food and drinks are not expensive and we have never gotten any bad food. Its located about 4 blocks south of the River,1 block to the right at the old school and in the mini-mall. Richard :)
